Decoding of Interleaved Alternant Codes

Interleaved Reed–Solomon codes admit efficient decoding algorithms which correct burst errors far beyond half the minimum distance in random regime, e.g., by computing a common solution to Key Equation for each code, as described Schmidt et al. If this decoder does not succeed, it may either fail return codeword or xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">miscorrect an incorrect codeword, and good upper bounds on fraction of error matrices these events occur are known. The algorithm immediately applies interleaved alternant well, i.e., subfield subcodes codes, but decodable differs, since is now restricted subfield. Interpolation-based Decoding of Alternant Codes
We formulate the classical decoding algorithm of alternant codes afresh based on interpolation as in Sudan’s list decoding of Reed-Solomon codes, and thus get rid of the key equation and the linear recurring sequences in the theory. The result is a streamlined exposition of the decoding algorithm using a bit of the theory of Gröbner bases of modules.
